Giving

Giving grows out of a heart of love. And giving to Community United Methodist Church grows out of a loving relationship between you and God; and not only financially, but just as importantly, with your time and talents.

For visitors or those new to faith in God, we ask you to keep your wallets in your pockets, unless you cheerfully choose to give. Please know that we never want people to feel pressured. Never give begrudgingly.

For those active in the church and those who choose to give out of a heart of love for God and this church, we thank you for helping us carry out God’s plans within the church, in our community and in the world.

Plegdes

As part of the United Methodist tradition, each Advent (Christmas) Season our church collects pledges from the congregation to help us plan our next fiscal year and to help us anticipate what programs we can carry out within our church and beyond.

Ways to Give

Monetaty Gifts are the simplest gifts to give. Talk to your tax advisor about how your cash gifts are deductible. You may give your gifts at worship services in the offering plate or by an automatic withdraw from your bank account, you just tell us what works best for you.

Gifts of Time and Talents are just as important as monetary gifts. There are many possibilities to use gifts and talents in and around Community United Methodist Church. For example, if you love children, consider volunteering to help with kids programs like Treasure Island, Captain’s Club, VBS, Sunday School or the youth group programs. Love to sing? Try out the choir! And we’re always open to new Greeters and Coffee Fellowship volunteers, too. We also make trips to local charities to bring donated food and clothing items. This is another great way to give your time. Or maybe you have a talent in video editing. Maybe it’s event planning. We’d love to hear from you with your ideas. Just contact us and get connected!

Other ways to give include:

Retirement Plan Assets – To preserve your retirement assets after your lifetime, consider the benefits of using them in a totally different way than you might have thought. Retirement accounts are often exposed to income taxes and estate taxes, at a combined marginal rate that could rise to 65% or even higher on large, taxable estates. These taxes can be avoided or reduced through carefully planned charitable gifts.

Gifts of Life Insurance have become a very popular and easy way for people to make a donation to their church or other charitable organization. Making such a gift can be as easy as simply naming the church as one of the beneficiaries of a life insurance policy. One can also donate the policy itself.

Gift of Securities can be a great way to make a larger donation while avoiding any capital gains taxes. One can donate appreciated stock held more than a year and pay no capital gains taxes. Talk with your tax advisor to see if this will work for you.

Gifts of Real Property such as land, houses, buildings or other non cash assets can be made to the church.

Again, whatever you wish to do, we appreciate your consideration and gifts. You can make a difference supporting Palisades Methodist as we continue to be a strong foundation for families in our community and to be God’s instrument in bringing His love and provisions to our neighbors and our world.
